About Us

It’s not about religion. It’s not about ritual. It’s all about relationships!

That’s what we believe at River Oaks. Here’s why. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is to love God first. He went on to say that the second greatest commandment is to love others. Both of these focus on relationships. God the Father has provided the privilege of being in a personal love relationship with Himself through His only Son Jesus. And being in a right relationship with the Father is the basis of healthy relationships with others.

We believe that Christianity is not about embracing a religion or practicing some ritual. It’s about being brought into a personal love relationship with God Himself and growing in that personal relationship. So at River Oaks you’ll hear a great deal about a personal love relationship with God the Father through His only Son Jesus and very little about religion and ritual.

Our Purpose-Driven Structure

River Oaks is a purpose-driven church. We organize ourselves around the five biblical purposes of evangelism, fellowship, discipleship, service and worship. We expect our members and regular attendees to participate in one of our five purpose teams. Each team has a specific focus and is led by a captain and a co-captain. Each team meets regularly to pray about and discuss how it can fulfill its purpose.

Our Sunday Services

Our Sunday morning starts at 11:15 am with the Hard ROCC Cafe which is a time to enjoy some light refreshments while you meet and talk with others. Worship starts at 11:30 am with the band leading in some upbeat music from artists like Chris Tomlin, David Crowder and Matt Redman. Folks are encouraged to join in and sing along if they like. Words to the songs are projected onto a screen. After a time of worship through song Bill will bring a message. His messages are Bible-based and practical in nature. Sunday mornings are laid back and relaxed, informative and encouraging.

Visit our messages section to listen to past messages, and read weekly re-caps of our services on the blog.
